Take a chance on Aruba
You’ll be one happy traveller if you get the chance to travel to Aruba – otherwise known as ‘one happy island’ – on a mystery holiday.
Geographically positioned in the southern Caribbean outside of the hurricane belt, you’ll want to prepare yourself for seven nights of glorious warm weather, whatever the time of year you’re lucky enough to visit.
And with a whole week on your hands, you’ll be able to experience everything this part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands (yup, welcome to Europe…) has to offer, from typical Caribbean beaches to a fine dining scene and a national park that takes up 20% of the island’s landmass! If mystery holidays are new to you, you can click below to see exactly how the process works. Follow this up by scrolling down to find out exactly what you can expect from an Aruba mystery holiday.

What to expect from a mystery holiday in Aruba
With one of the highest standards of living in the Caribbean region, Aruba certainly knows how to wow its travellers.
The island’s beaches will probably be the first thing to grab your attention, and there’s certainly nothing wrong with that given Eagle Beach is often voted one of the best anywhere in the world.
If you manage to pull yourself away from the sands, you’ll find a landscape that’s very different to many other islands in the region – arid and rugged rather than lush and verdant. It’s best bits are encapsulated within Arikok National Park, home to cacti and caves formed out of the limestone bedrock.
Elsewhere, the friendly welcoming vibe ensures repeat visitors make up a large number of people arriving into Aruba, while many more head to the island in order to sit at the tables of just some of the 250+ restaurants that dot Aruba.
Good to know before you go to Aruba
Aruba is part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, but unlike the Netherlands it doesn’t use the euro. The island has its very own currency, the Aruba florin, also confusingly called the Aruba guilder. The florin is pegged to the US dollar at around 1.80 Fl:1US$, and US dollars are also widely used.
English is widely spoken, so you shouldn’t have any language troubles while on your mystery holiday to Aruba. If you speak Spanish, all the better, but why not try your hand at Papiamento, the official language alongside Dutch.
Winds on the island can mean you don’t realise quite how hot the sun is on Aruba. You’ll want a tropical strength sunscreen and to stay topped up with liquids to avoid getting dehydrated. Follow the locals and head to the beach later in the day to avoid the midday heat.
