What to expect from a mystery holiday to Scandinavia
Whether you end up going on holiday to Copenhagen, Oslo, Gothenburg or Stockholm, you’ll have an effortlessly cool time in Scandinavia. We’ve given you a flavour of what to expect in each destination below.

Copenhagen – a seaside haven
The Danish capital of Copenhagen is a coastal city by the Baltic Sea. The water plays a big part in the best things to see and do. For example, you can go swimming in the harbour for a refreshing dip, take a ride on an electric ferry and visit the country’s national aquarium at Den Blå Planet.
Copenhagen is also well-known for its quality cuisine. Some of our recommendations include fried pork belly with potatoes, Danish meatballs and fried plaice. These dishes are just a small selection of the vast amount of mouth-watering things to try on your mystery holiday to Copenhagen.

Outstanding Oslo
A mystery break to Norway’s capital is a real breath of fresh air. There are so many naturally beautiful places to visit, including the nearby Oslo Fjord, Vigeland Park and the Botanical Garden.
You don’t have to have a tranquil time in Oslo, however. It’s home to a combined total of over 1,000 bars and restaurants, so the choice is vast. With that in mind, we’d highly recommend doing your research online in advance and booking a table for any eateries you want to try. Local specialities include stews, seafood and lamb ribs, but you can find just about anything you can think of.

Say hello to sensational Stockholm
Our final Scandinavian capital is in Sweden. A Stockholm holiday serves up the opportunity for awesome island-hopping, tasting a selection of fine craft beers and plenty of relaxing saunas.
If you’re in Stockholm at the weekend, we’d urge you to visit the city’s food and flea markets to support local traders and get a glimpse into Swedish culture. If the sight of all that produce has whet your appetite, why not order some authentic meatballs from one of the many magnificent restaurants? Other traditional dishes include pea soup and pancakes, cabbage pudding and gravlax.

Savour the charm of Gothenburg
Known as Sweden’s second city, Gothenburg offers a perfect blend of maritime history and modern “cool.” You can spend your time wandering through the historic Haga district, famous for its well-preserved wooden houses and giant cinnamon buns, or take a boat trip through the city’s scenic 17th-century canals.
For those seeking adventure, Liseberg Amusement Park provides thrills for all ages, while food lovers will appreciate the city’s incredible seafood scene. Whether you’re exploring the botanical gardens or taking a ferry to the car-free islands of the southern archipelago, Gothenburg provides a refreshing and authentic Swedish experience.
Good to know before you go to Scandinavia
Paying by card rather than cash is the preferred option at most places across the region. If you’re sticking to a strict budget for your Scandinavian mystery holiday, hiring bikes is a cheap way to get around most major cities. When visiting during warm weather, taking a picnic to a local park is a lovely way to enjoy lunch in the open air without breaking the bank.
